You can make it looks edgy and sophisticated, or maybe you like it to be more traditional and rustic. Whatever the style you desire, the family room is meant to be warm and comfortable, as it becomes a place to gather together with those you love. It’s an informal, all-purpose room used by all family members for recreation and relaxation. Because you and your family spend so much time in this room, it is a sin to let it be boring. If you think your family room is kind of dull, maybe it’s time to get some new furniture set and start a makeover.
Stylish Red Family Room
An ideal family room should be quite wide and easy to reach from any part of the house. To make it more stunning, you can paint the walls red and add some contrasting furniture sets into the family room. Red walls give the space a clear beginning and end. A set of beige sofa and arm chairs will complement the room, and you can add some red, patterned pillow or an ottoman to make a statement.
Add Some Colors in a Wide Family Room
If your family room is quite big and gets many natural lights during the day, avoid light colored walls and furniture together as they will make the room looks flat. If you insist on pastel-colored walls, use a set of brighter or darker furniture to add some contrasts. Since the room is big, you can also play a lot with a myriad of patters. Add a patterned area rug or some patterned high wing back chairs.
Invest in Comfortable Seating
A family room is multi-purpose, and family will gather to have a movie marathon, or to watch a football match. You need a big, couch sofa to accommodate all family members. You can have a plain, L-shaped sofa and add half a dozen of patterned pillows. Add one patterned wing chair or two as a decoration, and a stylish leather ottoman. Don’t forget a big TV to satisfy all.
Play with Patterns
As mentioned above, since a family room should be a wide and open room in the middle of the house, you can play with patterns more freely. The walls are striking a statement with funky wallpapers and a set of plain furniture. If you want to leave your walls plan, you can make your sofa all-patterned. Add some framed photos of family members on the wall. Complement your room with some greenery.
