Choosing and designing bathroom tiles sound exciting, but it turns out more complicated than you’ve ever imagined. As the most used material in the bathroom, tiles have a big part in determining the look of your bathroom. So, choosing the right bathroom tiles and design will give you an instant kick up to your bathroom’s style.
There are actually a lot of bathroom tiles to choose, ranging from marble, granite, ceramic, pebble stone, porcelain, to glass tile. There are also millions of patterns to choose. The best and easiest way to determine the bathroom floor design is by deciding the general color and style (modern, classic, etc) of your future bathroom.
See how top designers create lovely designs by combining different colors, patterns, and materials!
For modern look: keep things simple!
Designer Sarah Richardson loves to mix patterns in unexpected ways, but one thing to keep in mind is, she keeps things simple. So, if you want a clean, modern bathroom style, consider a less-is-more approach in determining bathroom floor design.
For glamorous look: put more and more marbles
There are many different types of marbles to be applied to your bathroom floor and walls. Designer Mark Williams loves to play with marbles and granites to make a luxurious bathroom design. You can also use travertine or other type of limestone.
For chic look: put focus on the floor
Besides walls, the floor is a dominant part of a bathroom. You can put the design focus on the floor just like designer Joni Spear do. Use patterned tiles, pebbled stones, wood patterns, and painted details to make your bathroom floor stands out.
For sophisticated look: use different tile sizes in various colors or pattern
Play with size and pattern! Designer Kriste Michelini from San Francisco used different tile shapes and different shades in the same colors to divide wet and dry areas in the bathroom. Experiment with various tile pattern in monochromatic tones to create awesome bathroom floor design!
Now you get the idea! One thing to keep in mind is, when deciding any design for bathroom floor, always consider the size of your bathroom. If your bathroom is small, you don’t want to make it looks messy and crowded with myriad of patterns. But it doesn’t mean you can’t play with patterns in your small bathroom. You can pick a small, less detailed pattern for some details. Happy designing!
