Most people use their bedrooms merely, well, to sleep. Therefore, they only fill those sleeping sanctuaries with nothing but a bed, nightstands, and lamps. But actually, a bedroom is more than that. It can be the heart of the home, where you can do most of your domestic activities like writing or working on a project.
If you have no extra room in your home to be dedicated as a home office, you can actually create a nice, small writing nook or office space in your bedroom. Just prepare extra square feet to make a space in your bedroom where a desk can go. Decorate it with things you love, and it could be a little place you call your own.
However, you should carefully choose the design of the desk for your bedroom. In addition, to reflecting your personality well, the desk also has to complement the general look of the room and go in harmony with other furniture.
You can actually opt for a bare, glazed pine wood desk for a country or natural-themed bedroom. It will also go with a bohemian style bedroom with lots of patterns and colors. The pinewood will neutralize the ambiance and brings stability into your bedroom. Don’t forget to add a comfortable and ergonomic working chair that will let you work for hours. If possible, place your desk in front of a window for more natural lights.
To match the colors of your bedroom, you can also paint your desk in any color you desire. Otherwise, you can also buy a colored desk, made from wood or man-made materials.
The design and style of the desk also should match your bedroom interior. For a modern minimalist or industrial look, opt for a desk, lacquered or not, with metal frame, painted in black or bare stainless steel. For a classic and vintage bedroom, or a shabby chic bedroom, you can opt of an antique desk with curves and lots of drawers. It will also give you additional storages. Paint it your desk in creamy or matte color.
For additional storages, you can put floating shelves on the wall over your desk if it’s not placed in front of windows. You can put books up in there, or maybe some pots of plant or framed photograph. Aside from being a storage, those shelves will also serve as an aesthetical element as well!
