More than just a decoration on a bed, headboards have become the important part that adds characters to your bedrooms. Nowadays, homeowners are started to pay more attention to their headboards when decorating the bedroom, and that’s why those beautiful headboards are available in a wide range of materials and styles. But choosing a modern headboard can be overwhelming with endless choices available in the market, ranging from solid oak, faux leather, fabric to metal, let alone the style and colors.
Don’t worry, here are some modern headboard ideas from top designers to help you choose (or make) the right one. So, let’s get started!
1) Vintage metal headboard with two solid colors
You can actually consider modifying the vintage metal headboard. Dip-dye it in a solid color like white, and then combine it with any color you like; blue, green, pink, anything will do depends on the colors of your bedroom. It's surprisingly easy to do, and it will add some pops of color to your all-white or bohemian bedroom.
2) Lay the rugs on the right place
Rugs don’t necessarily belong to the floor. You can actually make a modern headboard with a rug by draping one over a wooden headboard, or hang it before your bed and place it like a headboard. That will be a beautiful decoration for a boho-chic bedroom.
As alternatives for the rug, you can also use any fabric of your choice, or maybe tapestry, with your favorite patterns. Hang it n your walls, and change them with other fabric anytime you like.
3) Chalkboard rocks!
For kids bedroom, you can apply a chalkboard as a modern headboard that is fully modified. Take a piece of wood, cut it to create any shape you like, paint it with black chalkboard paint, make some curly writing and maybe sketches using dustless chalk and Voila! You have a super stylish modern headboard for a gorgeous bedroom.
4) Stick and slipcover
Slipcovering isn’t just for sofa or seating furniture. If your headboard has started to look dull and boring, there’s a cheap way to modify it and turn it into something new. Take a sheet of wallpaper of your choice, then stick it onto the headboard and wrap it to cover all of its surfaces. After that, you have a beautiful headboard (you can’t believe it’s actually the old one!)
5) Playful with flowers
If you want your bedroom to look whimsical and romantic, why not use some paper flowers to turn your bedroom into a fantasy garden? Take some sturdy papers with various colors, or you can paint them if you like, cut and shape them into the flowers of your imaginations, and using thin artist tape and floral wire, secure them onto your old headboard to make it look modern and fabulous!
