Now you have space and budget to have an outdoor kitchen of your dreams or the so-called summer kitchen. Yes, a stylish and cozy summer kitchen will allow you to enjoy the beautiful weather and the warm sun while cooking or gathering with friends and family. But there are things to keep in mind when designing a summer kitchen and here are some of them, according to experts:
1) Be sure you’re in the right climate
If you’re not living in a right climate, it could be hard to take advantage of an outdoor summer kitchen, especially if you live in a country part of fluctuating temperatures and weather such as ice and snow. A summer kitchen, as the name implies, is perfect for a place with a moderate climate throughout the year, such as places in coastal areas or with the tropical climate. Just make sure you’ll take a maximum advantage of your summer kitchen!
2) Pay extra attention to location
When you know that the climate is perfect to have a summer kitchen, the next thing is to determine the location of such a pleasant kitchen and dining area. There are several considerations when picking a location for your summer kitchen. First, make sure that the smoke from your kitchen’s grill won’t get into the home. Second, consider placing an outdoor kitchen near the entrance. This will make the easier movement in and out of the house. Third, be sure that your summer kitchen won’t obstruct the view of the yard. And the last but not least, keep your kitchen away from high-traffic areas.
3) Mind the size and amount of appliances
In designing a summer kitchen, you need to be keen of the size and amount of appliances you need, as they determine the size of the kitchen. Better choose a simple grill and a refrigerator, with some counter surfaces for you to work on. If your backyard’s space is limited, try to compromise on the appliances.
4) Be furniture-wise
Be sure that the furniture in the summer kitchen and the outdoor dining area can withstand the elements. Consider to invest in furniture with storages, so you can save on storages. That way, you can store and organize the pillow and other accessories in case of bad weather. Keep that furniture away from the grills to avoid accidents.
